Climate breakdown isn't only a future threat to be prevented — impacts are underway which we aren’t prepared for. Flooded homes, rising costs, disrupted services: these are already here, and they will intensify. Yet climate communication has focused almost entirely on cutting emissions, leaving most people without a way to make sense of what's happening around them now, or what they can do about it.

Adaptation changes that. Unlike the vast machinery of global decarbonisation, it doesn't require waiting for international agreements or national policy to catch up. People can act on their own futures, in their own homes, now — protecting local services, restoring nature, looking out for neighbours. Agency at the community scale can be tranformative: local enough to be real, but shared widely enough to add up to something that can genuinely change people’s futures.

This is why we see adaptation as a lever for the silent majority. When communities come together around it, they discover they are not alone. And in finding each other, they begin to realise how many of them there are — building citizens’ demand for broader political and policy change too.

To mobilise the "Silent Majority," we must operate with the highest standards of integrity and strategic clarity. The Climate Majority Project (CMP) is designed to be an agile, transparent, and professionally governed institution.

Our Legal Structure:

The Climate Majority Project is currently a non-profit Company Limited by Guarantee (No. 14751142). While this structure is often a precursor to registered charity status, we have made the strategic decision to transition to a Community Interest Company (CIC) model.

We have intentionally chosen the CIC structure over a traditional charity model for two strategic reasons:

1. Agility & Expertise: Our mission is complex and fast-moving. The CIC model allows us to recruit an Active Board of Directors—paid professionals who are "in the trenches" with us, ensuring our strategy remains data-driven and responsive.
2. All of our assets and profits are dedicated exclusively to our social mission and cannot be distributed to shareholders or private interests.

Financial Stewardship & Oversight

We treat our supporters' investment with the highest level of responsibility. To ensure integrity, we maintain a clear separation between strategic direction and financial verification:

• Internal Management: Daily financial operations and budget allocations are managed by the Directors and core team, ensuring that resources are strictly aligned with our high-leverage mission.
• External Verification: Our annual accounts are prepared and certified by DSC chartered Accountants. This provides an external layer of scrutiny and ensures our filings with Companies House meet all statutory UK standards.

Asset Lock Transparency: As we transition to a CIC, our financial records must demonstrate that our spending remains dedicated to the "Community Interest"—the mobilisation of the climate majority.
